Brian Erickson (b. 1990) is a composer, web/software developer, and amateur computer engineer.
Erickson joined Spectrum in April of 2014, their responsibilities at Spectrum include: finances, website development/maintenance, live sound, recording, and booking.Among Erickson's curatorial forays was the New Music series "Vox Temporum" (May 2014 - May 2015), which they headed alongside General Manager Lester St. Louis, to give exposure to emerging young composers and performers.
As a composer, Erickson has heard their works performed throughout North America and Europe by performers such as Marilyn Nonken and Steve Beck, as well as groups such as Route 9 Ensemble, Washington Square Winds, and Mannes Orchestra. Recent premieres of their included the world premiere of their work for solo piano scordatura "epistrata", May 19 at Tufts University, premiered by world-renown pianist, Marilyn Nonken, and its New York premiere on May 23 at Roulette, in Brooklyn.
With computers, Brian is primarily self-taught, building their own web servers, software, and the like. They are currently looking towards gaining another Masters in either Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or possibly Physics.
Erickson holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Berklee College of Music (cum laude), and a Master of Music in Composition from Mannes College of Music (cum laude) - where they studied with Missy Mazzoli, Carl Schacter, and Robert Cuckson.
